data:[...] Base64Who decided that chasing empty goals was the marker of a good life, anyway? Some of us were just not meant to sit in front of screens all day. We were not designed to live out our days inside of cookie-cutter boxes bathed in artificial light. Some of us can only be nourished by something bigger than the status quo. Listen, you were made to build something that matters. You know it in your soul. You were made to get your hands dirty with the work of being *alive.* The kind of work that feeds you—not drains you. The kind of purpose-driven striving that doesn’t need applause or approval, because *you know* it’s sacred. Not everyone will understand why you're out here planting hope into the ground. Why you’re trading convenience for intention. Why you’d rather wake up sore than spend your life increasing someone else’s profit margin. But here’s the truth: You don’t owe anyone an explanation. You don’t have to justify your joy. You don’t need to give away the best years of your life just to get a few at the end of it that finally feel like yours. You want to live a truly good life? Here’s what everyone needs to understand: Purpose is your birthright. And you sure as hell don’t have to earn it by being “productive” for someone else. You don’t owe this sick, broken system a damn thing. 🌱 If this speaks to your soul, pass it on. There are others out there doing quiet, meaningful work — and they need to know they’re not alone. #supportlocalfarmers #flowerfarmer #meaningfulwork
data:[...] Base64We call it “multi-passionate with a purpose”. 🤣 The almighty “they” tell us to *pick one thing.* Pick a lane. Pick a career. Settle down. Stay focused. Stay in your box. Cool story. 👍 Meanwhile, you’re over here planting onions, building a compost bin, sewing curtains out of vintage fabric, pressure-canning soup, and casually Googling “how to drill a well by hand.” And guess what? None of it’s wasted. Every so-called “distraction” is building something real. Something that feeds you. Your curiosity isn’t a defect. It’s your superpower. And seriously, who made the rule that you can only do one thing at a time? In this life, you get to nourish yourself from *the whole flippin’ buffet!* You get to learn and do and try and fail and try again...and it ALL counts. So if you’ve been made to feel like you're “too much” or “all over the place” or some other label designed to dim your light—welcome. You’re in exactly the right place. You were literally made to create, to grow, and to strive. And we celebrate that passion and drive for becoming the version of yourself that you know you’re meant to be. Around here, too much is just right. ⚡ Tag the superhero who is out there pulling weeds in their PJ pants while the sourdough is rising and has 37 browser tabs open at once. We salute your beautiful chaos. #homesteadinglife #farmliving #countrystyle
data:[...] Base64They want you burned out. They want you numb, disconnected, and too exhausted to imagine something different. All of it works in their favor. Because the more you believe *this is just how it is*, the less likely you are to resist. But joy? Joy is dangerous. Joy means you’re still alive, still feeling, still believing there’s something worth fighting for. Joy is a rebellion against despair. And something as simple as working in your garden, feeling the sun on your shoulders, smelling the fresh, clean air, and holding a sweet bunch of spring flowers can be a weapon in that rebellion. Doing deeply meaningful work that cultivates joy and nourishes our souls is the thing that reminds us: Life is still beautiful. The seasons will march on. And we are allowed to want more than survival. I can’t stress this enough right now—grow something. Pick something. Support a local farmer who grew it and picked it for you. Put it in a jar by the sink. Joy isn’t frivolous. It’s how we fight back. ✊️ 🌸 And, P.S., If this hit something in you, pass it on. Right now--more than ever--we need more people remembering what joy feels like. #joyinthelittlethings #selfcare #stopandsmelltheflowers
data:[...] Base64Let's get honest about what's really going on. Our society is suffering from a void of empathy. We've forgotten all of the intricate ways that we are bound to each other, our planet, and every other living creature on it. In the spirit of "you do you", we've created a vacuum of compassion & connection. That's not to say that celebrating our authenticity & individualism is a bad thing--unless it comes at the price of realizing an important truth: We need each other. Take our food systems, for example. You simply cannot have the belief that policies affecting farmers don't also affect you. Or that the things that touch your life directly are more important than those that impact the systems upon which we all rely. Too many people are acting like "I can just go to the store to get my food". But how does that food get there without farmers? We need to not only support farms through our economic policies, but also through the protection of the natural resources upon which those farms depend. As more and more farms are being replaced by housing developments, we are losing local food sources as well as destroying the ecosystems that are needed to provide for our communities. Forty new homes might help a few people today, but it takes away land that can produce food, season after season, for thousands. That's not what I call "progress". If we don't start caring about things beyond our immediate lives, we are going to find out in a hurry just how much we have to lose. Making the world better starts with taking an interest in the well-being of others, even when it doesn’t concern you directly. Caring about issues that don’t directly affect you is the ONLY way to create a better future as a society. Now is the time to take action & support local farms. Yes, now--before the harvests begin! Here are a few of the big ways to help: 1. Sign up for a farm share through a local farm's CSA program 2. Attend & shop your local Farmers Markets weekly 3. Visit farmstands & nurseries 4. Spread the word! Tell your friends your favorite farms. Help connect others. If you'd like to learn more about our family farm, use the link in profile. Your support means the world to us.
data:[...] Base64Just a gardener trying to cope! 👩🏻‍🌾 We are officially less than 30 days from the start of springtime. The days are getting longer and, before we know it, there will be flowers again! Sometimes when we’re in the middle of something, I think it can be easy to lose sight of the fact that all of life is one temporary circumstance after another. No matter how dark it gets, the sun will rise in the morning. The clouds and rain will give way to sunshine. Tears will dry and laughter will come again. Too often, we spend our lives lamenting whatever we don’t presently have instead of finding peace in knowing that it will all come back around in due time. It’s such a shame to voluntarily live one’s days in a state of scarcity and unrest rather than embracing the unending cycles of life that naturally ebb and flow. Soon, our gardens will be overflowing with abundance again...no matter how bitter the cold may feel today. Hang in there, friends. Good things are on the way! ❤️ . . #beautifulblooms #DahliaAddict #DahliasOfInstagram #floweraddict #FlowerGrower #GardeningJoy #gardeninglife
data:[...] Base64Believe it or not, our dahlia season starts in just a couple of weeks. That's when we'll begin working on our flower field by adding a layer of organic compost. We want our flower field to rest for a good thirty days with that fresh compost. That's important for nutrient stability because fresh compost releases a burst of nitrogen, and while nitrogen promotes green growth on plants, too much of it is not ideal. When a plant has too much nitrogen, it will prioritize producing excessive leafy growth at the expense of flower production, meaning it will likely produce fewer and smaller flowers, as the plant's energy is focused on developing foliage rather than blooms. It's all about getting the right balance of nutrients to properly nourish our plants. And it reminds me about how important it is for us to do the same for ourselves. There are times when we need to give ourselves rest in order to truly bloom and flourish. But it's tough because we live in a hustle culture where society tells us we're falling behind if we're not constantly pushing. That's a myth. Those who never rest will burn out. If not physically, then certainly spiritually. We must learn how to prioritize the nourishment of mind, body, and soul in order to show up and do good work in this life for the long haul. Friends, I hope you're taking the time to nurture the garden beds of your own life so that you can bloom in beautiful ways. ❤️ #dahlias #flowerfarmer #beautifulblooms #stopandsmelltheflowers #selfcare
data:[...] Base64Here's how you know it's true love... The truth is, most relationships don't fail due to lack of love, but from lack of friendship. Love, after all, is the highest form of friendship. It's when your weird matches their weird. Time spent together is time spent with your best friend. Laughter is the soundtrack. When you find that person, you know you have true love. For better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, until the end of time. Happy Valentine’s Day! ❤️ . . #valentinesday #truelove #forbetterorworse #marriedtomybestfriend
data:[...] Base64Need to calm your nervous system? It only takes 30 seconds to begin experiencing positive effects of awe, according to recent research. One of the ways we can experience awe is by seeing natural beauty. So, if you've been thinking about starting a garden, this might be the sign you've been waiting for! Here’s how it works in just 30 second doses: 1️⃣ Turn your full and undivided attention to things you appreciate, value, or find amazing. These dahlias and the relaxing music work beautifully. 2️⃣ Slow down and pause. Devote at least 30 seconds, but longer is great too. 3️⃣ Exhale and expand. Amplify whatever sensations you are experiencing. Doing this a few times a day can have remarkable benefits. Some study participants were even able to discontinue pain medications with this practice! This is just one of the reasons why we will always prioritize spending time in nature and growing our farm. It nourishes us in so many ways! So, take a minute today to just immerse yourself in beauty. Just for a moment, shut out the noise of the world, and simply allow yourself to experience the feeling of awe. Make space for joy and protect it with all your might. Be well, dear friends. ❤️ #mentalhealthmatters #stopandsmelltheflowers #planttherapy #flowerpower #flowersofinstagram #DahliasOfInstagram #dahliafarm
