April was such a lovely month with so many beautiful moments, the school Easter holidays, lots of family time & meeting more of my summer brides for their makeup trials 🫶🏼
I feel incredibly lucky at the moment but it wasn’t the easiest month & it did come with a few challenges.
What I find really interesting though is how I handle, navigate & react to challenges when my mindset is strong & when I feel my most joyful compared to when I don’t.
I’m taking that lesson into May & will continue to prioritise the things that make me happiest* alongside the habits & routines that make me feel my best 💫
*I find having a ‘happiness list’ in the notes section on my phone so helpful to refer to when I need it. A few things currently on my list for spring are:
✨ Buying myself fresh flowers
✨ Batch making ginger & lemon tea
✨ Romanticising my skincare routine
✨ Drinking my morning coffee, doing my makeup & listening to a podcast
✨ Taking Lyra for a little coffee date after school
✨ Trip to the farm shop & buying local produce
✨ Organising & decluttering one space/room at a time
✨ A solo morning walk or an evening walk & catch up with a friend once Lyra’s in bed
✨ Earlier bedtimes & earlier starts to the day
✨ Creating a capsule wardrobe for spring/summer

1. It’s been a month of bridal trials & preview sessions for more of my lovely 2024 brides 🪄
2. So grateful to receive reviews like these of my makeup lessons 🙏🏼
3. Coffee, makeup & my Monday morning podcast listen (‘Practical Positivity’ by @sophiecliff) to start the week after the school run
4. April was the month that I decided to start showing my face more & start talking to camera again. After getting out of the habit of it a couple of years ago I’ve been thinking about showing up on stories more for a while & decided that there is literally no better time than now (ps: thank you for all the lovely messages of encouragement 🫶🏼)
5. Easter holidays haircut with plaits for Lyra & a blow dry for me 💇🏼♀️
6. I set myself a 100 day challenge which I’m sharing over on @withlovelaurenandlyra & it includes reading before bed every night as it’s not usually part of my evening routine but I would like it to be. Every time I read Atomic Habits I feel so inspired & I always learn something new 📙
7. Family Sunday lunches are always a highlight of my week 🍸
8. My go-to products for my 15 minute quick & easy makeup look 🧴
9. Although it’s felt like spring has been hiding this month we’ve been lucky enough to have lots of blue skies & sunshine. Solo walks & listening to @superhumanapp is one of my all time favourite ways to habit stack & keeps my cup topped up daily 🎧
10. Coffee (or matcha) dates (by myself or with friends) used to be a bonus if I could squeeze them in my diary, but these days they’re something I prioritise & schedule first (‘prioritise your joy’ & ‘schedule your joy first’ are @sophiecliff’s words that live rent free & always keep me on track) ☕️🍵

These are the brushes that I use in my bridal kit, my personal makeup bag & always recommend to my clients. They are such lovely quality, they wash beautifully & last for years. They’re also usually the first purchase my clients make after using the brushes during their lesson too!
The right brushes can do so much of the hard work for you when it comes to creating a makeup look that you’re happy with! Often you can use exactly the same makeup but by switching up your brushes & adding in the techniques I teach, you can achieve polished & effortless makeup look that you feel really confident with.

* I did my makeup at 8am, took this photo at 4pm & then added powder, lip liner & lipstick for an early dinner date
Pro tip: I didn’t take any blotting paper with me on this trip, but that would have been ideal to remove the excess oil without having to use extra powder or using the blot paper before applying powder through my t-zone. They’re such an affordable way to freshen up your makeup without actually having to spend time adding more product - especially handy on warmer days in spring/summer & they’re the perfect size to keep in your handbag, I’ll link my favourite ones on my stories ☀️
I only packed my essentials for our trip to the Cotswolds, swipe to see what was inside my makeup bag. I’m loving @hourglasscosmetics powders at the moment as they add a luminosity to the skin which keeps it looking fresh, @bobbibrownuk corrector in the shade ‘light bisque’ to brighten under my eyes without adding coverage, @charlottetilbury blush in ‘pillow talk’ for the perfect neutral pop of colour & of course the @charlottetilbury setting spray 🪄 | |
