| data:[...] Base64 | IS IT POSSIBLE TO SEE ATHENS IN 24 HOURS? 🤔🏛️ and of course, i’m saving the best sight for last, when the crowds are gone and the heat is much more bearable—you’ll thank me later 😉 we only had one day in athens and managed to see all this and more! (we even fit in a stop to pick out a bag at @ysl 😆👛) just a couple of comments and tips:
☕️ ABOUT FREDDO ESPRESSO: if you haven’t had a freddo espresso/cappucino, thank me later. iced coffee isn’t common in europe, but it’s super popular in greece—sweet espresso topped with a fluffy cream head! i’m not a coffee drinker, but this became a daily need 👀
⏰ ABOUT THE ACROPOLIS TIME: you MUST purchase a timed ticket reservation from the acropolis website! 🎟️ now that it’s summer, it won’t be possible to watch the sunset from the acropolis as it closes before sunset. 🥺🌄 however, i still recommend reserving a ticket for one of the later time slots to avoid the worst of the crowds and for better lighting. there’s no shade, water, or food at the top! 🙅🏻♀️

visiting the UAE was one of the coolest trips i took last year. i finally traveled international with my parents after who knows how many years and i was really anxious—i wanted them to have a good impression of the middle east! suffice it to say they loved it there and i am so happy. 🥹 it wasn’t a perfect trip—we may have lost two days because i dropped my phone in a pool and it wouldn’t turn on, causing me to panic (😀)—but it was an amazing trip filled with futuristic views, karak chai, dazzling skyscrapers, and fresh-squeezed pomegranate juice galore. (and yes, i really did get called habibi! 🫢)

| data:[...] Base64 | so...summer in the south of france together? ☀️🫶🏻 the french riviera is one of the loveliest, most colorful places to spend the summer and i totally understand the hype. 🛥️ here’s my advice: set up home base in nice and take day trips out to the adorable villefranche-sur-mer, the crumbling medieval town of eze, the glitzy and fascinating principality of monaco, and the colorful and sunny menton. 🍋 you can easily take the train for just a handful of euros to all of them (except eze which requires a little more creativity), so you don’t even need a car. for such an exclusive destination, the entire cote d’azur is fairly accessible and easy to get around with public transportation and on foot! 🚃

casa batllo is one of antoni gaudi’s most famous masterpieces. it’s a modernist marvel and a splendid example of the art nouveau movement, and the house is so gorgeous with its fluid lines and dreamy aquatic-inspired wood and glass interiors. 🐠🪸 BUT...
the visiting experience wasn’t good at all! because casa batllo is so popular, it’s packed like a zoo from morning til night. we were made to shuffle around in winding one-way paths like the queue for an amusement park ride, sometimes squeezing two lanes deep into casa batllo’s tiny hallways. i couldn’t even see most details of the house because there were just too many bodies in the way all the time 😫 it really ruined the serenity and timelessness of the house for me.
and i get it—it’s popular for a reason, and im glad people get to visit and see casa batllo for themselves. i love gaudi too! but i just can’t imagine this beautiful house is supposed to be experienced like this, shunted around in a line with a sardine’s worth of personal space. 🫠
all in all, i definitely think it’s worth going to casa batllo—ONCE. but i won’t be going again. 🙃

⏰ TURN OFF THE ALARM CLOCK
instead of getting up early, go late! most people go in the morning and it gets crowded QUICK. we got our timed tickets for park guell about 2 hours before sunset! this gives you enough time to walk around the park and note down crowded spots to come back to later.
🗺️ EXPLORE BEYOND THE ENTRANCE
by far, the most crowded parts of park guell are the entrance stairs and the tiled greek theater. while they’re rightfully popular, park guell is HUGE! there were many areas of the park that we had all to ourselves. also, there are multiple entrances to park guell—i highly recommend avoiding the main entrance due to the crowds.
🔁 WORK BACKWARDS
at sunset, everyone and their mom is at the greek theater. go there about an hour before and then enjoy other spots in the park that were previously crowded instead. we went back and wandered through popular areas like the aqueducts and the dragon’s spine—all completely empty.
